About
Our Mission
Fishes & Loaves’ collective ambition is to connect with its community as a resource of reliable access to food, household essentials, and hope for at-risk populations. The biblical principle that “we are our brother’s keeper” inspires all of our outreach efforts.
Our story began 15 years ago through the leadership of Rev. Andre Samuel and a small group of church members who saw a need in our community for access to nutritious food. We joined forces, pooling our resources and volunteering our time to establish a neighborhood food pantry. What started as a humble effort to support a handful of families has grown into a thriving organization serving hundreds of individuals each week. We are dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming space where our neighbors can access fresh produce, pantry staples, and hygiene products. Our community has shown incredible generosity in donating food and funds to support our mission, and we are grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those facing food insecurity in our neighborhood.
Fishes & Loaves Pantry continues to be a beacon of hope for many families struggling to make ends meet. Located in the heart of a Southeast Baltimore community, it provides essential groceries and supplies to those in need. Strategic partnerships with The Maryland Food Bank, local businesses, and generous individuals keep the shelves stocked with a variety of canned goods, pasta, rice, and fresh produce. Volunteers continue to work tirelessly to organize and distribute the items, ensuring that every person who walks through the doors leaves with food for the household and a sense of relief. The pantry not only addresses immediate hunger but also fosters a sense of community and support among neighbors. It continues to stand as a testament to the power of unity and compassion in helping those less fortunate.
